You think we were done with the new reign? There’s much more to show, without spoiling what’s happening behind the scenes!

The Scarecrow Fields around the Harvest Village are so so vast, to the point that, long before the Knight’s visit, the royal family had to resort to golems to guard them from enemies and to make it easier for the farmers to work the land.

That’s an… extreme windmill! Who could have built it?

The Scarecrows are their special golems and combat units, while most of the men in the reign are employed as Farmers!

The loyal and the mindless servant of the Harvest’s Royal Family!

These guys are not among the brightest sparks in the fire, but they get the work done and are loyal to their very core to the Princess, albeit for different reasons!

One of the Harvest Princesses of the past even managed to end the war for the Scarecrow Fields with the pumpkins!
Since then everything around there was peaceful, the people worked hard to keep the reign afloat and the harvests never failed to deliver.

In the meantime, shrowded by the wheat fields, something started to move under the surface of the Harvest Reign.

Simple-minded and weak humans controlling armies of golems and monsters?
Having said creatures work and guard the land during nighttime while their “masters” are comfortably resting in their beds?

What if, on top of that, someone discovered that the Reign’s Princess isn’t actually a “she“?

Then THAT guy arrives and ruins it for everyone!

Good things never last, and a pumpkin with an above average intelligence can easily rile up his companions to lift the forks against Harvest Princess!

Down with the deceiver!

Humans cannot rule over the Scarecrow Fields!

I’m tired! Can’t someone else do it?!

A true Princess should lead us and the Harvest Reign!

“A new Princess! A new Princess!”

This is the final preview for the Harvest Reign, I don’t think I missed anything, but there’s more characters that you’ll be able to discover only by playing v0.15! I really hope you’ll enjoy it, the Team is working really hard to deliver something enjoyable!

My my, this place works the other way around.

Most of the subjects in the Harvest Reign are burly, manly, farmers, but the Harvest royal family has genes that carry feminine features in them. Maybe the royals came from somewhere else? Are they 100% human? Who knows…

For starters, characters are inherited differently from the other humans.

One main difference between the inhabitants of the Harvest Reign and the rest of the Kingdom is that newborns aren’t randomly female or male.

Females are rarely born from the royal lineage and the males, while pretty girly, wouldn’t be admitted to the girl-only meetings the other Princesses hold to chat about politics and stuff!

That’s why it’s tradition for them to hide their true nature by dressing and acting like a girl, always keeping the royal item, the Cardinal Bell, well hidden in their pockets.

Just a ring of the Bell can change the sex of the target in an instant! Useful in dire situations.
This item will be available in the game, useful to change the sex of any Progeny and, as we finish working on their portraits, other Princesses!

Have a taste!

You can’t tell apart males from females? Well, that means it’s working as intended.

Sup everyone! Princess rework posts will resume very soon, possibly tonight I’ll post the new Desert Princess, then Goblin and Golem will follow!

I realize I’ve been working pretty much continuously without sharing much about it, time to fix this!

GAMEPLAY CHANGES

Attributes

This change is bigger than it seems, and envelops many aspects of the game.

The Princesses now will have attributes, possibily varying if you’re using Custom Princesses instead of the Classic ones.

The Attributes (the grouped ones are usually mutually exclusive) are:

  • Living
  • Undead

  • Human
  • Beast
  • Demon
  • Monster

So, while Harvest would be Living/Human and Slime would count as Living/Monster, the default Skeleton would be Undead/Human while a custom Skeleton looking like

would be Undead/Monster.

This classification comes in handy to explain how certain mechanics work differently for different races.

While Living characters can normally reproduce, Undead ones are not that lucky.
Living beings, just like you and me, require food to survive, but Undead ones don’t!
Beasts reproduce faster, Monsters have varying speeds to deliver (some of them, like Slimes, will deliver faster than beasts from the next update), Humans need longer times.
Demons and Monsters are bad at dealing with other beings (meaning lower Diplomacy scores), while Humans and Beasts are more courteous.

And so on…

Wealth

A Reign’s Wealth  won’t increase as time passes anymore.

A Reign’s Wealth  won’t increase its Army  or Defense  score anymore.

Now that there’s mechanics that regulate slave trades (goblin), food trades (harvest), customs (mouse) and war expenses, together with more events that can change a reign’s wealth (like during Tea Parties) I’m ready to leave it to these game’s features, without having Wealth go up by itself after set times.

  • War Expenses

From now on armies will require Wealth  to be maintained for long times.

When a reign depletes all its Wealth  its population will slowly start to drop.
If the population (you can see it in the Status Screen) reaches 0 that reign is defeated!

Conquering a city from another Princess rewards the conqueror with 1 Wealth , conquering her capital gives 1 additional Wealth !

  • Food

Let’s spill it out .
Harvest Princess is a good-willed, simple-minded, cutie.

She produces most of the food and crops in the Kingdom, to the point that she could starve half the Kingdom if she wanted, getting rich by selling fresh vegetables and flour to the ones willing to pay.

BUT… she has the golden heart of a Princess, that wouldn’t be the right thing to do. Screw Machiavelli.

She sells at fair rates what she produces to all the other Princesses, stopping () only if they’re at war with her.

Living Princesses will have a hard time against her, while Undead ones will trample her easily:
The ones that need to eat to survive will gradually lose population with drawn out wars (and gradually recovering Diplomacy with Harvest Princess, realizing their mistakes), despite of their Wealth , unless they’re controlling the Holstaur Dairies!

If they have easy access to milk they won’t starve, even when at war with Harvest Princess!

  • Customs
The new Status Screen~

In the picture above the Harvests Reign is warring () with the Cats!

Harvest is in the Northern part of the Kingdom, the latter is in the Southern one. If either of them isn’t friendly enough with the Mice, they’ll have to pay customs () to the Mice Reign! Their fortress is right in the middle, between the North and the South, the warring armies have to go through there to get to the other side, there’s no way around it! (yet…)

Warring in faraway lands for prolonged times might deplete the treasury () of a Princess but the winner takes back some of it!

  • Slaves

How it worked until now:

A reign getting defeated could have its Princess sold to Goblin Princess as a slave.
The reign selling it would gain 1 Wealth  immediately while the goblins would lose 1 Wealth immediately, to gain it back only when the slave is sold.

How it will work from now on:

A reign getting defeated could have its Princess sold to Goblin Princess as a slave, like before.
The reign selling it would gain 1 Wealth  immediately while the goblins would lose 1 Wealth  immediately, to gain it back only when the slave is sold.

Then the Goblins, depending on the selling price of the girl, could gain 1 or 2 additional Wealth !

Other random events can increase/decrease the Wealth  a Princess has, like good ol’ Tea Parties, “Knight’s INC.” quests, Pirates (another new one) and I plan to have in future more Goods they can trade to eachother!

Harvests Reign

Most of the reign is ready and the hard part of its development is behind, most of the maps are ready, we’re now writing scenes, BGMs and drawing the NPCs that inhabit it.

I won’t spoil a single thing, let’s just say that, dependig on how you play her route out, most of the Kingdom will have to fight for a piece of bread.

Take this free Slime lewd preview and be on your way!

There will be 1 animation for all the colours and the variation will be for legged/non-legged slimes!

Summer is upon us, time for courage tests and sweaty, hot, summer nights!

The Fields Reign is now officially on its way, it will host more than one Princess and in the events happening in there have been on a notebook of mine since months, finally I’m able to see it become a reality!

Here’s the first preview of some of the maps, still work in progress, obviously.

The ruler of this new reign has a huge following of burly and manly farmers. While dirty poor they’re a force to be reckoned while fighting to defend their princess!

But the Princess is troubled by something at the beginning of the game, and will refuese to meet anyone!

While the Fields Reign is pretty peaceful and in good terms with their neighbours they’re still in the Northern part of the Kingdom, there’s skeletons and other mean creatures that could see it as a sweet treat~
If things stays like this the reign will be trampled by the first army sieging them.

Fields of Gold~

The solution for the princess’ troubles could be found in the endless Scarecrow Fields, but will the Knight be able to keep his word, while facing its many perils and temptations?

Who should rule the Fields Reign? This time it may be up to the Knight to decide it.

Music comes from inside?

That’s not all we worked on and have yet to show!

The ice Dragoness finally has her own ending, and Royal Dragons in general will get their own new Progeny next month, together with Lamias!

Finally, the crazyness of monster chromosomes (MonsterSomes?) continues! I’ve just finished reworking the character transmission for the first 6 races, now what happens is close to what would happen with a (single) real chromosome with genes located in it and such~

This new system makes obtaining the Progeny you want a little harder, since they’re bound to look closer to their mother’s, but now you can scientifically pursue the perfect look for you!

We should be able to show the new Kobold, Human, Slime and Skeleton tomorrow or the day after! Stay tuned!

As you know, we’re taking a little time to rework the girls of the cast, but while the artists are working I’m also adding and changing stuff you might want to know about!
Let’s talk about all of this while waiting for Princess & Conquest to go live with its first release!

Princess Rework

Right after working on the Drider Progeny, promised for this month, we started reworking all the main cast in our own way, also together with a new member of the Team, Eversor!

In just 3 days Human and Skeleton have been dealt with, we’ll work to keep things moving smoothly like this.
The aim is to make new characters, while keeping the same feeling the old ones used to have!

  • Kobold: In Progress
  • Human: Completed
  • Slime: In Preparation
  • Golem: In Preparation
  • Insect: Not Started
  • Skeleton: Completed
  • Desert: Not Started
  • Ghost: Not Started
  • Goblin: Not Started
  • Moth: Not Started
  • Cat: Not Started
  • Dog: Not Started
  • Mouse: Not Started
  • Rabbit: Not Started

I know you’d like to see dem previews, we’ll likely release the remade Kobold, Human, Slime, Golem and Skeleton for Patrons to see by the end of the month.

Drider Progeny

There’s now a bunch of spiders waiting to hatch, while you Princess & Conquest around the Kingdom!

4000+ different looks for the new race of Progeny! Keep them away from frogs. Please.

EGGS!

You heard it!
Egg laying races (kobolds, insects, moths, driders and… dragons) won’t give birth to living Progeny anymore, the Knight will instead recieve an Egg of said race that will need some time to hatch!

Dear will provide you with what you need in order for your Eggs to hatch: an Egg Incubator that will (initially) allow you to incubate 5 eggs, of any race, at the same time.

Breeding & Rebreeding in Princess & Conquest

Just like Mendel taught, but now done properly!

Before, only breeding with the 1st generations was possible, and the offsprings you got that way could already differ greatly from their own mothers.
Now, through Breeding & Rebreeding, selective breeding becomes possible!

You can choose, between all the Progeny you get from one of the girls, your favourite one, so that the following generations will look like the new mother you chose this way!

You get a rare variety or coloration of a monster (like the human/spider hybrid in gen IV in the picture down here)? If you breed her it will be much easier to get another of the same rare variety!

Eons of breeding later…

This is just the surface of it all, the mechanics underlying the patterns of transmissions of said features will try to simulate as closely as possible what happens in real life.

A brief plunge into madness:

The KoboldSome (Kobold Chromosome)

This will SURELY be included in the instructions manual upon release.

I’ve planned the features to be placed on a single (for now, as long as we have less than ~10 different characters to be inherited) chromosome, for each race.

To keep things even simpler there won’t be one for the Knight, let’s assume he’s some kind of universal breeder, that doesn’t influence the offsprings. In short, this means only the mother will influence the Progeny you get.

By placing the different features on a chromosome you can determine how often 2 characters are transmitted together.

Looking at the one for kobolds you can see that horn and tail shape often go together, this can be good if you want to keep or change both, but it makes it really difficult to keep one, while changing the other!

This isn’t a mechanic that will require too much time to implement, I can deal with it with a couple algorithms at most, but I strongly believe that fun and impredictable things can happen only if you try to follow as close as possible what happens in real life.

Let’s put that degree to use, finally.

Sorry for the radio silence as of lately, I was busy trying to make some (pretty drastic) changes to the game, mostly about customization options and replayability. Let’s start!

Custom Princesses

It is now possible to choose, at the beginning of the game, if you want the main girls to have randomized looks, the classic ones or to be a mixed bag!

That works for all of them, provided their race has a Progeny, that’s why we’ll be focusing on those a little more starting in June.

I’m also glad to announce that we’ll be adding a Royal Dragon Progeny, to make it possible for the dragons to have countless new looks too!
I know there’s a lot of you that wanted this to happen, so… why not.

To add even more variability, some features a Princess with an alternative look has, will be reflected on how her Reign behaves!

A Spider-like Insect is even more aggressive and will declare wars more easily, a Mouse with a mechanical arm has an increased Diplomacy score with the golems, a fully transformed Succubus increases the overall Kingdom Lewdness while at the same time making it easier for the Knight to have sex with her!

Knight’s Traits

At the beginning of the game (either if you skip the intro or play it) you can also decide what kind of Knight you are going to be during that playthrough. There’s currently 9 options:

  • [Default] Human Knight: +2 Affinity with reigns ruled by a Human Princess (default: Human and Desert)
  • Battle-Ready: +1 Strength and +1 Agility
  • Stud Knight: +1 Endurance and +2 Kingdom Lewdness
  • Pacifist Knight: +1 Intelligence and +1 Diplomacy between all reigns
  • Monster Lover: +2 Affinity with reigns ruled by a Monster Princess (default: Slime, Insect, Goblin and Moth)
  • Beast Lover: +2 Affinity with reigns ruled by a Beast Princess (default: Cat, Mouse and Rabbit)
  • Undead Lover: +2 Affinity with reigns ruled by an undead Princess (default: Golem, Skeleton and Ghost)
  • Wealthy Knight: Start the game with 1 additiona, random, dowry
  • Prince Knight: +1 Relationship with all the girls

More will surely come.

So far some of the categories don’t have the definitive roster, until the final lineup of 20 girls is decided I’ll try to keep things balanced.
Insects might leave Monsters and become a category of its own if it gets another entry (might happen with Drider, considering she’s getting her own Progeny) and a Demon family also has some chances of appearing.

But this isn’t everything!

If you chose to have some Princesses to be randomized, there might be changes to the above bonuses.

If Goblin gets a hairy and sturdy Bugbear body she also counts as a Beast (you get +2 Affinity with her even if you chose “Beast Lover”).
If Desert is a succubus or a satyr she doesn’t count as a Human anymore (you won’t get +2 Affinity with her even if you chose “Human Knight”).

Princess & Conquest

Dynamic Princesses, looking differently from the charts, growing a plethora of children of many different races, this is FAR beyond what the original concept of Towergirls included, that’s why we thought it would be better to do the switch now before it’s too late.

The game will change its name to Princess & Conquest, there will be a complete rebrand, losing any connection to Towergirls and avoiding any possible future legal issue that would endanger the development.

The normal mode will be called “Conquest Mode“, while the Princess/Castle management one will be called “Princess Mode“.

Nothing about the game will change, but the Princesses will get new looks (while keeping the same style), severing any connection with Towergirls.

To summarize:

  • Gameplay and coding won’t be touched
  • Events and dialogues won’t be touched
  • Progeny and NPCs won’t be touched
  • Music won’t be touched
  • The Princesses “classic” look will change
  • There will be a big icon/UI overhaul
  • Progeny will also get costumes (is necessary now that there’s “randomized” princesses)
  • Most races will get their own Progeny, unlocking the “randomization” for the Princess too
  • The costumes we have now will become available again immediately after the Princess’ rework
  • The animations will be changed to adapt to the Princess’ new looks

There’s work to do, but I’m happy I’ve recieved the approval of the Team when I made this proposal, it became hard to focus on making a sexy game while having to deal with lawyers and notaries.

Right after the Drider Progeny gets done we’ll begin to show the new looks for the girls, stay tuned!

We just finished working on all the Battlesuits for the girls currently recruitable (and will prepare the ones for Field and Wyvern Princess before they’re released)!

This new set of costumes gives the Princesses increased stats in battle, new skills or special abilities!

Proceeding to the next thing reached stretchgoal, we already have the first half of the Bunnysuits ready!

These new costumes will instead give the wearer an increased pregnancy chance (as long as it isn’t 0) and give them an increased chance of getting multiple children! Rabbit power~

All you see here is ready for v0.14.1 that will be out by the 18th of May!

Check all the costumes in the Wiki section, there more than 100 of them!
